90's kids had the best childhood!

Every generation has its own trend. The kids of today are all social media savvy and spend most of their time in their mobile phones than playing outside their house. Somehow, this affects their social skills and resilience. That's what makes the kids born in the 90's different. 90's kids had experienced both the joy of outdoor playing with their friends and the advent of the internet.

Growing up, 90's kids enjoy most of their time playing outside with their friends which usually ends up with someone getting hurt or crying. But this made them more sociable and resilient. If you show the picture below to a 90's kid today, surely he/she will share to a lot of fun memories.

Aside from outdoor fun, 90's kids also enjoyed the rising popularity of Japanese Anime. I can still remember getting excited to go home from school for the afternoon popular Anime series such as Dragon Ball Z, Ghost Fighter, Slam Dunk, Hunter X Hunter, Flame of Recca, Trigun, and Pokemon just to name a few. These shows also inspired their young minds of the about friendship and never giving up! If you're a 90's kid, I bet you can still remember the opening and ending soundtrack of your favorite anime show.

Who would say 90's kids are not badass gamers? They were the first to experience the forefathers of multiplayer arcade, strategy, shooting, and role-playing games! Tekken, Red Alert, Starcraft, Battle Realms, Counter Strike, Half Life, Ragnarok, and Zelda are just few of the most exciting games that we play back in the days. I can still remember buying Red Alert 2 installer in CD and installed it to my dad's Windows 98 desktop computer. And if you're asking about how we play with our friends, well, before there was mobile online gaming, there was LAN. Friends would gather in an internet shop to play Counter Strike and tease each other face to face! Nothing is more fun than the loud teasing and screaming of gamers inside an internet shop.

You say only the kids of today have more gadgets? You wish! 90's kids had more gadgets because unlike the gadgets of today, taking pictures, listening to music and playing games had to done in separate devices. Ever heard of a cassette tape and Walkman? I remember one time when my rewind button was broken, I had to use a small butter knife to rewind a tape. So I started bringing an extra small butter knife to school for that purpose alone. Seems hassle but it was fun like bringing a deadly weapon to school. Taking pictures was entirely different too since you can only take up to 30 shots per film. Yeap, you can't just take photos that aren't worth taking because that would be wasteful. No stupid selfies for you during 90's my friend.

To sum it up, 90's had experienced the best of both worlds. From the fun outdoor activities to the excitement of social media and mobile gaming. As most 90's kids are getting married and starting their own family, I  hope that they would make time to show their children how to have fun outside their homes so that they would not get stuck on their mobile phones. This will also help them make new friends and become more sociable and resilient just like how the 90's kids were.
